Squaduary 2018 Complete!

We made it! The end of the month is here and I've managed to get my pledge completed in a timely manner.

I'm thrilled to be able to say I made my Squaduary goals. I'm not sure what I'll do next with these guys... I've got the Blessed Primarch to lead them, as well as the Custodes and Sisters of Silence from Burning of Prospero to tag along with him. I'd say that will make for some good Imperial Soup once I get it all finished.

Aw yeah! First square on my bingo card ticked off! I went with 'Paint a model or unit in a colour scheme you don't normally use' since I've been wanting to do an Ultramarines force for 13 or so years; since I saw Dave Andrews' Ultras in the 4th edition Space Marine book. I never did get around to it, so I took the opportunity with the Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium. That's an itch well scratched there!

Looking on I'm not exactly sure which of my many, many projects I will tackle next. March seems like a good time to get teams done...

Cheers!

Squaduary Week 3 Update

It's a good thing I am ahead of the game with this challenge since I lost most of the weekend playing 'Oxygen Not Included' instead of cracking on with my Primaris. Still most is not all and I got some more work done.

Here are the bases before...
...and after!

I used cork and plastic skulls from the GW Box of Skulls for embellishment. I thought since I'm painting some Ultramarines that the rims be Goblin Green.

All that's left really is to get my marines mounted and the transfers applied.

Cheers!

Paint Table Saturday

Another week with lots of progress!

This weekend finds me with lots of bases to finish up. Almost all the bases for my Primaris Ultramarines are done so far. I decided with a few days to spare I should get the bases for my Death Guard finished up as well.

Cheers!

Squaduary 2018: Week 2 Update

It's been a productive month so far. Here is where I stand with my Squaduary 2018 pledge.

I've got all the base colours blocked in on all my models. The bases are all assembled and ready for paint. There should be zero problems finishing up these miniatures in time. One thing I noticed I screwed up is the Captain's helmet which I painted it red and now have to go back and fix it. Aside from that everything is going according to plan.

Cheers!

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery, right? We'll see...

Along with cataloging my projects I have organized my Pile of Grey Shame so that I can see where most things are at a glance. Now hopefully being able to see all this will help me clamp down on snapping up new minis, kits, and terrain just on a whim. Last year I really displayed zero discipline when I'd see something on eBay or in GW's accelerated release schedule. I know it's been like this for a few years now but I'm still not used to it!

After the photobucket debacle last year I really lost a lot of hobby mojo. In getting things organized I decided to just finish a smallish terrain project to try and get rolling. That lead to me jumping in and getting a larger piece done, and then diving straight into the Dark Imperium box. Once I had it all assembled I kept driving, and got the Death Guard models painted up in record time (for me).

When February started I was ready to get stuck into Squaduary with my Primaris marines (and that project is moving right along). I don't know what other community events the year will bring, aside from Dreadtober. But relying on community events to be my motivation is just one way to set myself up for failure. I need to be my own motivation for getting stuff done! Enter Wargame Hobby Bingo...

I seriously think I can fill in the whole card this year. With all the projects I have rolling there should be no contest. I think the only square I'd need to start something new for would be 'Make something for the hobby not for the battlefield'... but I might not either.

So that's my goal for the year: finish 23 projects and win hobby bingo. It's not even that crazy of an undertaking.

Cheers,

CJ

    Paint Table Saturday

Been a while since I had anything to show on my Paint Table Saturday update.

Here is the state of my Squaduary pledge. The Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium have been a lot of fun to work on so far. Hopefully today I'll get the rest of the base colours blocked in and these minis will be ready for detailing. I also plan to get some work done on some custom bases for the models.

    Cheers!

    Squaduary Week 1.5 Update

Alright first week and a half of Squaduary is past and I have plenty to show for it!

I've got my Primaris Ancient and five Primaris Intercessors painted up and ready to go. The rest of the Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium are almost all primed and shaded up, and I've already started blocking in colours on the next five Intercessors.

I'll have a proper for the end of Week 2.

    Cheers,

    CJ

    Squaduary is Here!

    Let's get right into it!

Rory over at Stepping Between Games has been kind enough to organize Squaduary! I figure we can give it a go.

So what am I bringing to the table this year, you may ask? Dark Imperium Primaris marines!

I've got all the Death Guard stuff painted already, stay tuned for an update with them sooner or later. I've got my Primaris all assembled and primed. I'm not sure about bases yet but with 21 days to go I am sure I can get it all sorted.

    Cheers!
